T20 World Cup 2026: England beat Italy by 24 runs

Kolkata (Web Desk): In the 29th match of the ICC T20 World Cup, England defeated Italy by 24 runs in an exciting encounter at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

England won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 202/7 in their 20 overs. Key performances came from Will Jacks, who remained unbeaten on 53, while Tom Banton scored 30, Phil Salt 28, and Sam Curran 25 runs.

For Italy, Grant Stewart and Krishnappa Gowtham took two wickets each.

Chasing 203, Italy put up a spirited fight but fell short, finishing 178 all out on the final ball of the last over. Ben Minetti top-scored with 60, supported by Grant Stewart (45) and Justin Mosca (43).

With this win, England has successfully progressed to the Super 8 stage of the tournament.
