President Zardari, PM Shehbaz felicitate Nepal's RSP on electoral victory

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Nepal's Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and its leader Balendra Shah on historic electoral victory.

In a statement issued by the Presidency, President Zardari said that the active role of young people in the electoral process was very encouraging and reflected a wider regional aspiration for accountable governance and reform.

He added that youth-led leadership sends a positive signal across South Asia and the world. The president also recalled Pakistan’s pride in Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who became the youngest Prime Minister, and welcomed the emergence of a young Prime Minister in Nepal as a positive development.

Reflecting on the warm relations between Pakistan and Nepal since 1960, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to deepen bilateral cooperation based on mutual respect, goodwill, and shared interests.

He conveyed his best wishes for the new leadership to advance Nepal’s progress and said Pakistan remains committed to strengthening its friendship with Nepal.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt congratulations to Rabi Lamichhane and Balendra Shah, noting, “This strong mandate reflected the trust of the Nepali people in the new and dynamic leadership.”

He added on X, “Pakistan looks forward to working closely with the newly elected Government of Nepal to further strengthen our historic friendship and cooperation.”
