Islamabad (Web Desk): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is spreading a baseless narrative regarding the alleged firing on protestors.
In response to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar's statement, the minister emphasized that the PTI has failed to provide any evidence to back its claims.
He slammed the PTI for its long history of promoting violence during political protests and pointed to the events of November 26, when armed groups, reportedly linked to PTI, launched an assault on the Federal Capital, leading to the deaths of police and Rangers officers and leaving many others wounded.
Tarar questioned who should be held responsible for the fatalities and injuries among security forces during these disturbances.
The minister took aim at the PTI leadership for abandoning their supporters during the protests, accusing them of shirking responsibility at a critical moment and leaving their workers to face the consequences alone.
He lashed out at the PTI for “violent protests and politics,” asking the party to respond to the questions people were asking.
The information minister said the government had solid proof of the involvement of the entire PTI leadership in May 9 incident.
