Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari held a press conference addressing recent concerns and highlighting key achievements in law enforcement and security.

She refuted false reports circulating about the audit, emphasizing that these claims were spread without proper investigation. The minister also praised the security arrangements made on Youm-e-Ashura, noting that all religious sects demonstrated excellent harmony.

According to Minister Bukhari, crime rates in Punjab have dropped significantly, with Lahore witnessing a 68 percent decrease in criminal incidents. This improvement has made Lahore safer than several major international cities. Districts such as Chakwal, Bhulwal, and Hafizabad reported no criminal activities in the past two days, although Gujrat experienced a recent theft.

She disclosed that over 1,500 wanted criminals have been arrested across Punjab, and 614 children have been rescued from suspects. The provincial government continues to intensify its crackdown on criminal elements.

The minister also highlighted the strengthening of the Counter Crime Department (CCD), which now operates on a model similar to the FBI and has apprehended more than 1,500 fugitives with highly credible investigations.

Azma Bukhari emphasized that no thief or robber will be allowed to escape justice. Following the success of the “Clean Punjab” campaign, the government has launched the “Better Punjab” initiative to further promote development and safety throughout the province.
