Marriyum Aurangzeb praises successful Eid cleanliness drive in Punjab

Lahore (Web Desk): Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has declared the province-wide Eidul Adha cleanliness campaign a historic success, saying the Punjab government has set a new benchmark in public service and that other provinces should not hesitate to learn from successful governance models.

Addressing a press conference alongside Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq, Aurangzeb announced that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a cash reward of Rs10,000 each for workers of the "Suthra Punjab" initiative in recognition of their efforts during the Eid holidays despite extreme heat and challenging working conditions.

She said more than 41,000 citizens used the government's helpline during Eid, reflecting public confidence in the administration's services.

The minister added that cleanliness operations were monitored round the clock across livestock markets, streets and neighbourhoods, helping the campaign gain significant attention on social media.

Speaking about the upcoming monsoon season, Aurangzeb said the provincial government has completed all necessary preparations to deal with any potential flooding situation.

She assured the public that emergency planning is fully in place and announced that she would provide a detailed briefing on flood preparedness in the coming days.

The minister also addressed speculation regarding Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's health, stating that her recent surgery was successful. She clarified that the procedure was carried out at Sharif Medical City in Lahore and dismissed reports suggesting she would travel abroad for treatment.

According to Aurangzeb, the chief minister is expected to resume leading public initiatives after completing her recovery.
