President, PM, others laud team Pakistan on qualifying for T20 World Cup final

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday appreciated the Pakistan cricket team over their victory in the semifinal against New Zealand to reach the final contest of the T20 World Cup.

“Well played Pakistan,” President Arif Alvi tweeted particularly eulogizing the “excellent performances” by Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, Muhamamd Rizwan and Haris.

“Green shirts you make us proud. On to the finals,” the president said and conveyed his best wishes for the final match expressing hope for their win.

“Inshallah you will win,” President Alvi hoped.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also felicitated the Pakistan cricket team on making it to the final with an incredible come back.

“Well done Team Pakistan for an incredible comeback,” the prime minister tweeted.

PM Shehbaz also mentioned three traits of “passion, commitment and discipline” as a reference to the driving force behind the victory of the Pakistan cricket squad.

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar also congratulated the Pakistan cricket team for a stellar performance against New Zealand in the semi-final.

He wished the team good luck for final.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto also congratulated the captain and all other players of the national cricket team.

In his tweet cricketer-turned politician and former premier Imran Khan congatulated captain Babar Azam and the team.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz also congratulated the for winning the semi-final of the T20 World Cup.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan congratulated the team for excellent performance.

In his tweet, Jamat-e-Islami chief Siraj ul Haq  wrote, "Pakistan Zindabad".

Former minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry tweeted, "Cricket unites Pakistan."

The Green Shirts have booked their place in the final at Melbourne Cricket Ground opposite India or England, as the two are set to clash on Thursday in the second semi-final.
