Over 300,000 people displaced amid Middle East tensions, says UN report

New York (Web Desk): The UNHCR has raised serious concerns over the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Middle East, reporting that ongoing tensions have already forced over 330,000 people to abandon their homes.

According to UNHCR data, the Iranian capital, Tehran, has seen the displacement of at least 100,000 individuals, who have been compelled to leave their communities due to security concerns and unrest.

Lebanon has also been heavily affected, with more than 84,000 people rendered homeless during the recent instability. Of these, over 30,000 have crossed into Syria, seeking safety and shelter amid the regional turmoil.

The UNHCR has warned that if the conflicts continue unabated, the humanitarian situation could deteriorate further, potentially placing millions of people at serious risk.

The agency emphasized the urgent need for international attention and aid to prevent a wider crisis and ensure that displaced families receive essential protection, food, and medical assistance.

The organization also highlighted the strain on host countries and local communities, noting that the influx of displaced individuals is creating additional social and economic pressures, particularly in border areas and refugee camps.

UNHCR officials have called for coordinated action from governments, humanitarian agencies, and international organizations to address both the immediate needs and the long-term impact of displacement in the region.
