PM Shehbaz takes notice of urban flooding in Islamabad, orders swift rescue, safety measures

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday took notice of the flood-like conditions that emerged in several low-lying areas of Islamabad following recent heavy rainfall.

Responding to the situation, he issued strict directives to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the district administration to immediately carry out rescue operations and ensure rapid drainage of accumulated rainwater in affected localities near stormwater drains.

Taking notice of the difficulties faced by residents in flood-prone zones, the PM Shehbaz instructed the relevant departments to adopt preventive measures to safeguard the lives and properties of those living close to streams and nullahs.

He emphasized the need for timely action to minimize risk and damage in vulnerable areas.

To prevent any health crisis in the aftermath of the rains, the prime minister also ordered the health department to stay vigilant and take proactive steps to control the spread of waterborne diseases.

In addition, he formed a special committee to monitor the rescue efforts, evaluate the developing situation on the ground, and ensure that relief reaches all affected communities.

Reaffirming the government’s resolve to protect citizens during natural calamities, PM Shehbaz stressed the importance of a coordinated and efficient response from all concerned authorities to address the emergency and support those impacted by the severe weather.
