Mohsin Naqvi meets Omani counterpart, discusses Pakistan-India tensions

Muscat (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi met with Omani Interior Minister Said Hamoud bin Faisal al-Busaidi in Muscat, where Pakistan outlined its stance regarding the recent tensions with India.

During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi stated that the rise in tensions is due to India’s politics of accusations, adding that Pakistan’s position is clear: if war is imposed, Pakistan will respond effectively and strongly. He also emphasized that Pakistan has always been a peaceful nation and desires lasting peace in the region.

Naqvi praised Oman’s international efforts for peace and highlighted the crucial role Oman plays in restoring peace.

Bilateral Cooperation and Future Steps
During the meeting, both leaders discussed further development of bilateral relations. Mohsin Naqvi proposed increased cooperation on issues such as visa challenges for Pakistanis in Oman, drug prevention, anti-smuggling police training, and collaboration regarding coastal guards. Both countries agreed to designate Islamabad and Muscat as sister cities.

Naqvi also thanked the Sultan of Oman for granting amnesty to Pakistani prisoners in Oman’s jails on the occasion of Eid. Both leaders emphasized the need to enhance cooperation for the repatriation of Pakistani prisoners from Omani jails.

Naqvi added that Pakistan and Oman’s relationship is like that of brothers and neighbors, and both countries will take joint steps to elevate their ties to new heights.

Said Hamoud bin Faisal al-Busaidi stated that the relationship between Pakistan and Oman is deeply brotherly and historical, and both nations need to work together to further strengthen these ties.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from Oman’s Ministry of Interior and Pakistan’s Ambassador Said Naveed Safdar Bukhari.
