Interior Minister Naqvi directs NADRA to assist LEAs to deport illegal foreigners

Islamabad (Web Desk): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to provide complete support to law enforcement bodies in the process of expelling undocumented foreigners from the country.

The directive came during a meeting he presided over while visiting NADRA’s headquarters in Islamabad.

The minister stressed that authorities must swiftly trace individuals who managed to obtain Pakistani citizenship through illegal means and ensure their records are promptly deleted from the national database.

Naqvi observed that NADRA’s performance has improved considerably in the last couple of years, but emphasized the need to adopt more advanced technologies and services to make processes easier for the public.

He also called for modern NADRA facilities to be developed on land owned by the authority instead of operating from rented spaces.

Officials briefed the meeting that multiple initiatives have already been introduced to enhance service quality. These include the cancellation of millions of identity cards that were issued in the names of deceased individuals.

Moreover, a 30-day deadline has been introduced to address and resolve issues related to identity cards.

Working closely with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), steps are also underway to deactivate mobile SIMs that were registered against the names of deceased persons, aiming to curb misuse and strengthen the integrity of official records.
