31st death anniversary of Dildar Pervaiz Bhatti observed

Lahore (Web Desk): The 31st death anniversary of legendary broadcaster, writer, and actor Dildar Pervaiz Bhatti is being observed across the country today (Thursday).

Born in Gujranwala on November 30, 1948, Dildar completed his early education in his hometown. From a young age, he stood out for his eloquence and confidence, winning numerous trophies in debating competitions during his school and college years.

He began his professional life as an English lecturer at Government College Sahiwal, where he taught for a year before joining Government College Lahore, marking a new phase in his academic and personal journey.

Dildar’s entry into the world of media came in the early 1970s when he joined Radio Pakistan and hosted the popular program Sohni Dharti. His natural charm and engaging style quickly made him a familiar voice to listeners across the country.

Later, he became associated with Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) Lahore, where his career reached new heights. His role as host of the quiz show Takra, the first Punjabi-language program of its kind, turned him into one of the most celebrated television personalities of his era

He continued to shine as the host of other widely admired shows, including Mela, Yadish Bakhair, and Panjnad, which further solidified his reputation as a dynamic and respected figure in broadcasting both nationally and internationally.

Dildar Pervaiz Bhatti’s illustrious career was cut short when he suffered a brain haemorrhage and passed away on October 30, 1994, in New York shortly after performing at a cultural event.
