State minister Shehryar Afridi tests positive for COVID-19

Islamabad (Web Desk): Minister of State for Safron and Narcotics Control Shehryar Afridi on Saturday said he has tested positive for coronavirus.

In his post on Twitter, the minister wrote that he has gone into self-isolation after testing positive for coronavirus.

“I have tested positive of COVID19 & have isolated myself at home as per advice by medics. I need prayers & blessings,” he wrote.

He also prayed that may Allah Almighty help save all my countrymen from the pandemic.

Shehryar Afridi is not the first politician from who has been infected.

Earlier today, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Rana Arif Iqbal also tested positive for Covid-19.

The PML-N lawmaker has self-quarantined at home.

On May 20, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member of Punjab Assembly Shaheen Raza lost her life to deadly coronavirus.

Earlier this month, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser tested positive for the novel coronavirus and went into self-isolation.

Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and several sitting MPAs and MNAs had also tested positive for the virus and most of them recovered.
