US and Iran reach framework for 60-day ceasefire extension, Axios reports

Washington (Web Desk): The United States and Iran have reportedly reached a 60-day memorandum of understanding aimed at extending the current ceasefire and paving the way for negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear programme, Axios reported on Thursday, citing two US officials.

According to the report, an initial understanding has been achieved between both sides, but it still requires final approval from US President Donald Trump before it can be implemented.

Under the proposed arrangement, the ceasefire would be extended for two months, providing space for renewed talks on Iran’s nuclear activities, which have long been a major point of tension between Washington and Tehran.

The development comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation and bring both parties back to the negotiating table. However, the agreement is not yet final, as Trump’s approval remains a crucial step before any formal announcement.
