PM Shehbaz directs setting up of facilitation desks for fuel subsidy scheme

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the setting up of facilitation desks at petrol stations to help citizens benefit from the government’s fuel subsidy programme.

The desks will include representatives from the administration, volunteers and petrol pump staff.

The prime minister issued these directions while presiding over a review meeting in Islamabad on the PM Special Relief Scheme for motorcycles, rickshaws and cars with engines up to 800cc.

PM Shehbaz directed the staff deployed at the facilitation desks to properly guide eligible applicants and extend every possible support to them during registration and the completion of other required procedures.

He also called on the relevant authorities to step up efforts to raise public awareness about the relief initiative and ensure that eligible people are informed about the scheme.

The meeting was told that after being initially introduced as a pilot project in Islamabad, the scheme has now been rolled out across the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

Officials briefed the meeting that the registration mechanism has been kept straightforward so that citizens can complete the process without difficulty.

Applicants only need to provide four basic details: their CNIC number, vehicle registration number, province of registration and the vehicle’s registration date.

The meeting was further informed that the number of completed registrations is steadily rising, while provincial governments are providing their full support to ensure the scheme is implemented nationwide.

Under the initiative, fuel subsidies are being offered to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc.
