Iran and Oman reach general consensus on Strait of Hormuz framework: report

Tehran (Web Desk/Agencies): Iran and Oman have reportedly made substantial progress towards reaching an understanding on a broad framework for managing issues related to the Strait of Hormuz, though the proposed arrangement cannot be concluded until it receives clearance from Iran’s senior leadership, according to ISNA.

Hassan Ghashghavi, spokesman for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said in a televised interview that talks between Tehran and Muscat had advanced significantly and were approaching their final stage.

He explained that the two sides had essentially settled on the main outlines of the framework being discussed for the strategic waterway.

However, he said the agreement still requires consideration and approval by Iran’s higher authorities before it can be formally completed.
