President, PM reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to global peace

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have once again emphasized Pakistan’s firm dedication to global peace on the occasion of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.

In his statement, President Zardari expressed full support and respect for UN peacekeepers deployed across the world, recognizing their efforts in maintaining peace and stability.

He also paid homage to the 183 Pakistani personnel who lost their lives while serving under the United Nations flag in various peace missions.

He further pointed out that Pakistan is home to one of the earliest UN peacekeeping missions, the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), adding that its continued presence highlights the importance of a peaceful and just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in line with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

In a separate message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan’s role in UN peacekeeping reflects its long-standing commitment to international peace, security, and cooperation among nations. He also paid tribute to peacekeepers serving under the UN worldwide.

This year’s theme, “Invest in Peace,” underscores the need for sustained global commitment, political will, and financial backing to ensure lasting peace and safeguard human lives across the globe.
