Pakistan, Iran reaffirm shared commitment to regional peace

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their resolve to deepen mutual cooperation and strengthen strategic engagement.

The agreement reached in a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi in Islamabad on Monday.

During the meeting, FM Araghchi conveyed warm greetings from the Iranian leadership and reiterated Tehran’s commitment to expanding bilateral ties with Pakistan.

Deputy PM Dar welcomed the Iranian delegation, emphasizing the strong historical, cultural, and religious connections that have long bound the two neighboring nations.

The two sides agreed on the importance of accelerating collaboration in critical sectors, including trade, energy, cross-border security, and regional connectivity. The two leaders also held in-depth discussions on current regional and international developments.

Expressing concern over heightened tensions in South Asia, Dar drew attention to India’s alleged provocations following the recent Pahalgam incident.

He categorically rejected accusations attempting to link Pakistan to the episode and called for an impartial and internationally monitored investigation to uncover the truth.

Dar noted that such claims were likely intended to divert global focus from the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir conflict.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s stance against terrorism in all its forms, the deputy premier highlighted the nation’s frontline role and sacrifices in the global fight against terror.

The meeting concluded with both countries reiterating their shared commitment to regional peace and stability.

FM Dar also appreciated the timing of the Iranian delegation’s visit, describing it as a welcome gesture at a time of heightened regional uncertainty.
