Pakistan welcomes Kuwait's ratification of Defence Cooperation Agreement 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan on Wednesday welcomed Kuwait’s formal ratification of the Pakistan-Kuwait Defence Cooperation Agreement, signed in June 2023, describing it as a major advancement in the enduring defence relationship between the two brotherly nations.

In response to media queries regarding Kuwait’s ratification of the agreement, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Kuwait’s approval reflected the firm commitment of both countries to deepen defence collaboration and further strengthen a security partnership that has been developing since the early 1980s.

He stated that the agreement establishes a comprehensive institutional mechanism to broaden cooperation in several key areas, including military education, professional training, joint exercises, exchange of expertise, and other areas of defence cooperation agreed upon by both sides.

Andrabi said that the framework will strengthen institutional coordination between the armed forces of Pakistan and Kuwait while reinforcing the long-established defence relationship shared by the two countries.

He added that Islamabad and Kuwait would continue to work jointly to implement the agreement in accordance with its provisions, paving the way for expanded defence engagement built on mutual confidence, common interests, and sustained institutional cooperation.

The FO Spokesperson further said that enhanced defence collaboration between the two countries would also make a positive contribution towards regional peace, security, and stability.

It is pertinent to mention that the Pakistan-Kuwait Defence Cooperation Agreement was originally signed on June 11, 2023.
