Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Pakistan and Kuwait have signed the “Protocol Agreement-2026” aimed at further expanding and strengthening the existing framework of military cooperation between the two countries.
The agreement was concluded during a meeting between Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and a high-level Kuwaiti delegation headed by Kuwaiti Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah.
The delegation also included Chief of General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces Lieutenant General Khalid Darj Saad Al-Shriaan.
The newly signed agreement will build upon the Defence Cooperation Agreement-2023 and broaden the areas in which the two countries’ armed forces can work together.
Under the Protocol Agreement-2026, the Pakistan Armed Forces will provide assistance and support to the Armed Forces of Kuwait in several areas. These will include military training, capacity development, border management and other fields of defence cooperation agreed upon by both sides.
The agreement is being viewed as another step towards deepening the longstanding defence partnership between Pakistan and Kuwait.
It reflects the mutual confidence, respect and shared strategic interests that have continued to strengthen relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, particularly bilateral defence relations, security cooperation and ways to further expand military ties.
Both Pakistan and Kuwait reiterated their commitment to developing their defence partnership and enhancing cooperation in areas of common interest. They also expressed their determination to support mutual security and contribute to peace and stability across the region.
The signing of the Protocol Agreement-2026 is expected to provide a broader framework for practical defence cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the years ahead.
