Islamabad (Web Desk): Over 120 million eligible voters are all set to cast vote for National Assembly and four Provincial Assemblies seats in the upcoming general elections scheduled to be held on February.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), a total of 5,121 candidates are in the race for the National Assembly seats. These include 4,807 male, 312 female and two transgenders.
For the four provincial assemblies, 12,695 candidates are in the field including 12,123 male, 570 women and two transgenders.
The elections will be held on 266 general seats of National Assembly and 593 general seats of four provincial assemblies, the Radio Pakistan reported.
Meanwhile, the ECP has established 90,675 polling stations across the country for the general elections.
According to the ECP, out of the total polling stations, 41, 403 are combined whereas 25,320 are for male and 23,952 for women voters.
The total number of polling stations in the provinces is 50,944 in Punjab, 19,006 in Sindh, 15,697 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and 5,028 Balochistan respectively.
Moreover, there will be a total of 2,76,398 polling booths across the country, including 1,47,552 male and 1,28,846 female.
On the other hand, the political parties are holding public gatherings whereas candidates are participating in corner meetings to engage with the voters.
