Peshawar/Quetta: KP and Balochistan Assemblies will meet today (Wednesday) to administer oath to the newly-elected members.
In Peshawar, the inaugural session of the K-P Assembly will start soon where MPA-elects will take oath. The session was summoned by Governor Haji Ghulam Ali.
As many as 113 newly-elected members are likely to take oath. Out of the 145, 30 are reserved seats, of which 26 are allocated for women and four are for minorities, have not been notified as the matter is currently being heard by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Elections on two seats were postponed owing to the deaths of candidates in the respective constituencies.
PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub has said that party founder Imran Khan nominated Babar Salim Swati as the party’s candidate for the role of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly speaker.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Assembly’s session for oath-taking of newly elected MPAs has also been summoned.
The house will meet at three in afternoon.
