Pakistan’s monsoon death toll jumps to 819: NDMA

Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released a fresh monsoon report, revealing that between June 26 and August 28, a total of 819 people were killed and 1,111 injured across Pakistan due to heavy rains, floods, and related incidents.

The provincial breakdown is as follows:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 479 deaths
Punjab: 182
Sindh: 57
Balochistan: 24
Gilgit-Baltistan: 41
Azad Jammu & Kashmir: 28
Islamabad: 8

In the last 24 hours alone, 14 more lives were lost—13 in Punjab and 1 in AJK—and four people were injured (three from Punjab, one from KP). The report also noted 606 houses damaged and 505 livestock perished.

These numbers underscore the severe humanitarian toll and the rapidly escalating impact of extreme monsoon weather, signaling an urgent need for enhanced disaster preparedness and response mechanisms.
