YouTube introduces AI search feature for smarter queries

California (Web Desk): Google is integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into more of its products, and now YouTube is also getting an AI-powered search feature.

The company has announced the rollout of an experimental feature called “Ask YouTube,” which is currently being made available on a temporary basis for YouTube Premium users aged 18 and above in the United States.

This new tool allows users to go beyond simple keyword searches and ask more complex questions. In response, it provides comprehensive results that include both videos and text summaries. Users can also ask follow-up questions to refine their search.

To use the feature, users need to enable it manually in their account settings. Once activated, a new “Ask YouTube” button appears in the search bar, offering suggested prompts or allowing users to type their own queries.

For example, a user planning a road trip can ask for detailed suggestions, and the system will provide a curated list of videos along with a summarized overview. Follow-up questions can then be used to explore specific details further.

However, Google has not yet confirmed when this AI search feature will be rolled out globally or made available to all users.
