Protective embankment near Head Qadirabad in Gujranwala breached to manage water pressure

Gujranwala / Jhang (Web Desk): Following the release of water by India into the rivers, a flood situation has developed in the Chenab River.

As a precautionary measure, the district administration near Head Qadirabad in Gujranwala carried out a controlled small explosion to create a breach and reduce water pressure.

Meanwhile, in Jhang, the water level at the Trimmu Headworks continues to rise, with an inflow of 63,034 cusecs and an outflow of 51,834 cusecs recorded.

According to the district administration, due to the risk of flooding in riverine areas across the district, 412 villages are at risk of being submerged. Local residents, along with their livestock, have been instructed to move to safer locations, and announcements have also been made in mosques regarding the evacuation.

Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar Bhinder stated that the administration has established 18 flood relief camps, while Rescue 1122 has set up 27 relief camps to provide immediate assistance to the affected people. District officials are continuously monitoring the situation, and relief operations are ongoing.
