In meeting with Chinese envoy, PM Shehbaz highlights Pakistan's role in Middle East de-escalation

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday highlighted Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting de-escalation and regional stability while discussing situation in the Middle East with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong in Islamabad on Thursday.

According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Chinese envoy called on the premier at the PM House today.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, along with the foreign secretary.

During the meeting, the prime minister lauded China’s unwavering economic assistance and reiterated Pakistan’s determination to move forward with the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, particularly prioritizing agriculture, industrial partnerships, and major infrastructure schemes.

PM Shehbaz also conveyed his congratulations to the Chinese leadership on the successful conclusion of the “Two Sessions” and expressed appreciation to President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi for their thoughtful Pakistan Day greetings.

Ambassador Jiang, in response, acknowledged Pakistan’s economic strength and reform initiatives, while reaffirming China’s continued backing, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.

The two sides expressed satisfaction on the ongoing exchanges between the two countries and expressed eagerness for future high-level engagements to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations.
