President Zardari signs Finance Act 2026-27

Islamabad (Web Desk):  President Asif Ali Zardari has officially approved the Finance Act 2026–27, completing the legal process required to implement Pakistan's federal budget for the upcoming financial year.

Following the president's assent, the Finance Act will be published in the official gazette, making it effective from July 1, 2026. The federal budget, totaling nearly Rs18.71 trillion, had already been passed by both houses of Parliament after several amendments were incorporated during parliamentary discussions.

The new law introduces a range of fiscal measures, including revisions to income tax, customs duties, and other taxes aimed at strengthening government revenue and supporting economic priorities.

One of the major provisions of the Finance Act is a 7% increase in the salaries and pensions of government employees, which will also come into effect at the start of the new fiscal year.

According to the government, the budget is designed to promote economic stability, improve revenue collection, and provide financial relief to salaried workers and pensioners while maintaining fiscal discipline.

With the president's approval, all constitutional requirements have now been fulfilled, clearing the way for the federal budget and its associated tax measures to be implemented from July 1, 2026.
