Lahore (Web Desk): Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), and his devoted companions is being observed today (Monday) with religious reverence and devotion to remember their supreme sacrifices for the cause of Islam.
Chehlum is observed every year on 20th Safar of Islamic calendar.
Mourning processions will be held in various cities and towns across the country to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala, with additional security measures for easy flow of the processions.
Prominent scholars will address the gatherings pay tribute to the great sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his martyred companions, highlighting the good life of the martyrs of Karbala.
In Lahore, the main procession will start from Haveli Alif Shah in the walled city and pass through the main roads and culminated at Karbala Gamy Shah.
Punjab police have taken stringent security measures for the processions, Majalis across the province in order to avoid any untoward incident.
Security measures have also been taken in other areas of Lahore where the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh is also being observed. All private and state schools across Lahore, and Karachi are closed today.
In Karachi, the main procession will be taken out From Nishtar Park this afternoon, passing through traditional route of Numaish Chowrangi, Saddar, Impress Market, regal Chowk and MA Jinnah Road, the procession will be concluded at Imam Bargah Hussainia Iranian kharadar.
The Sindh government on Sunday announced suspending cellular services in all major cities of the province, including Karachi, on account of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) on Monday (today).
Moreover, mourning processions will also be taken out in Jaccobabad, Multan, Sargodha, Peshawar, Quetta and other cities of the country.
Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan is also observing Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain with devotion and respect.
