OpenAI abruptly shuts down popular Sora video app

California (Web Desk): OpenAI has announced the sudden closure of its widely used Sora video generation app.

The company shared the news via a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that “we are saying goodbye to Sora.”

However, OpenAI has not yet specified when the app and its associated API service will be fully discontinued or the exact reason behind the decision. The company has promised to release more details soon.

According to a company spokesperson, the Sora app and API are being retired so that the team can focus on advanced robotics research, which aims to tackle real-world problems.
