Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistani Christian community is celebrating Christmas to mark the birth of Jesus Christ with rest of the world today.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain have felicitated the Christian community in Pakistan and wished them a happy Christmas.
President Mamnoon said in his message, “On behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan, I extend heartiest greetings to Christian community in Pakistan and all over the world on the joyous occasion of Christmas.”
The President said that Jesus Christ is equally revered by both Christians and Muslims. We Muslims regard him as the chosen messenger of Almighty Allah, and like our Christian brethren, we also believe his teachings are a beacon of light not only for Christian community but also for the whole humanity.
The Prime Minister said on the occasion that Jesus Christ was sent to this world as a symbol of peace, brotherhood and respect for the entire humanity.
Christmas is a time for celebration with family and friends, warmth and cheerful moments and to reflect on the eternal massage of love, peace, tolerance and compassion for humanity.
He said that Muslims deeply revere Jesus Christ as one of the great messengers of Almighty Allah.
He said that the constitution of Pakistan safeguards the interests of minorities, and that the Quaid-e-Azam had declared a policy of equality for all communities irrespective of their religion, profession or ethnic origin.
PM Nawaz acknowledged the role of the Christian community in the development of the country. He appreciated their patriotism, devoted service and their role for peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
