Trump cancels Witkoff, Kushner's planned visit to Pakistan for Iran talks

Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has announced the cancellation of the planned visit of Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and presidential adviser Jared Kushner to Pakistan, amid ongoing Iran-US diplomatic developments.

Earlier, the US administration had confirmed that the two-member delegation would travel to Islamabad, with their departure scheduled for today. However, speaking to US media, President Trump said the visit has now been called off.

Speaking to Fox News, the US president said that the trip of Witkoff and Kushner to Pakistan has been cancelled, adding that the United States (US) holds significant leverage in the ongoing situation and that Iran can engage in talks with Washington at any time if it chooses.

The announcement comes as diplomatic activity continues in the region. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, leading a high-level delegation, recently visited Islamabad, where he held meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

Following his engagements in Islamabad, the Iranian delegation has proceeded on further diplomatic visits to Muscat and Moscow as part of a broader regional tour.
