China, Russia assured no weapons for Iran, claims Trump

Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has claimed that both China and Russia have assured him they will not supply weapons to Iran, saying such a move would not be in either country's best interest.

Speaking about his recent discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump said the Chinese leader had assured him that China would neither provide nor sell weapons to Iran under any circumstances.

He added that the commitment also extends to Chinese companies, meaning they would not be allowed to sell arms to Tehran. Trump said he trusted Xi's assurance, citing the relationship between the two leaders, and noted that he was also taking important steps to strengthen ties with China.

The US president further claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had also pledged not to sell weapons to Iran. According to Trump, neither Russia nor China is currently supplying arms to the Islamic Republic.

Commenting on the war in Ukraine, Trump said he continues to maintain relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin despite the ongoing conflict.

He also clarified that the United States does not directly sell weapons to Ukraine. Instead, Washington supplies arms to NATO member states, which pay the full cost for the equipment.

Trump added that he was not aware of how those weapons are distributed after being transferred to NATO countries.
