Ghotki (Web Desk): Vote count started after polling time ended for the by-elections in National Assembly constituency NA-205-Ghotki-II on Tuesday.
According to details, the polling began at 8am and concluded at 5pm.
The police, Sindh Rangers and Pakistan Army officers have been deployed in polling stations to avoid any untoward incident.
A strong contest is expected between Pakistan People's Party (PPP) candidate Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar and independent candidate Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Maher.
The NA seat fell vacant after the death of federal minister for narcotics control Ali Mohammad Mahar on May 21 due to cardiac arrest.
According to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), 290 polling stations have been set up in the constituency for 360,875 registered voters who are exercising their right to vote.
Earlier, the ECP had deferred by-election at NA-205-Ghotki from the scheduled date of July 18 to 23 July.
The election was delayed for five days due to a case challenging the candidacy of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar in Sindh High Court.
