Police recover 11 of 19 passengers kidnapped from bus in Sindh’s Ghotki district

Ghotki (Web Desk): Sindh Police have recovered 11 of the 19 passengers who were abducted when armed men attacked a bus in Kashmore district, SSP Sukkur Azhar Mughal reported on Tuesday.

According to police authorities, more than 20 bandits stopped the bus on Guddu–Kashmore Road near the Murid Shakh area. They opened fire on the vehicle, smashed its windows, and took several passengers hostage before fleeing the scene.

DSP Obaro Abdul Qadir Soomro said the police quickly cordoned off the area and set up checkpoints to track the attackers. A gunfight later broke out between the police and the bandits in the Somiani area.

Officials said drones were deployed during the operation, which forced the kidnappers to retreat, allowing 11 passengers to be rescued safely. Some of those recovered sustained injuries and were immediately provided medical care.

DIG Sukkur Faisal Abdullah Chachar stated that the Sukkur Range police are conducting ongoing operations against the bandits in Ghotki. He added that several attackers were injured during the encounter and that searches are continuing in the riverine (katcha) areas, where dense fog and tall sugarcane crops are making operations challenging.

Authorities confirmed that efforts are still underway to rescue the remaining abducted passengers and apprehend the suspects.
