Heavy rains, flash floods claim 10 lives in KP

Peshawar (Web Desk/Agencies): Heavy rainfall accompanied by flash floods has resulted in significant loss of life and property across various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) over the last 24 hours.

According to an early assessment released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Tuesday, ten individuals have died in weather-related incidents.

The fatalities include two men, two women, and six children. Additionally, two others—a man and a child—sustained injuries.

Several districts bore the brunt of the severe weather, with Swat, Bajaur, Buner, Upper Kohistan, Upper Chitral, and Shangla among the most affected.

The torrential downpours led to damage to ten homes—eight of which were partially damaged, while two were completely demolished.

In response, PDMA has instructed district administrations to promptly extend relief efforts, including medical care for the wounded and support for those who lost their homes.

Authorities have also issued warnings that further rainfall is likely to persist through July 25, urging officials at the local level to remain alert and take all necessary precautions.

Citizens have been advised to report emergencies or seek assistance by contacting the PDMA’s Emergency Operations Centre through the helpline 1700.
