Iran confirms US and Israel attacked its Natanz nuclear site, IAEA says no radiation leak detected

Tehran (Web Desk): Tensions in the Middle East have once again escalated sharply as the United States (US) and Israel reportedly carried out a joint airstrike targeting Iran’s most sensitive nuclear facility in Natanz.

Tehran has officially confirmed the attack, describing it as a blatant violation of international law.

According to Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, the Natanz facility was struck in the operation. However, authorities stated that, fortunately, no signs of radiation leakage have been detected so far. Local officials added that nearby populations remain safe at this stage, and there has been no need for any large-scale evacuation.

Iran has condemned the strike as a serious breach of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and has called on the international community to take immediate notice of what it described as an unlawful act.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said it is closely monitoring the situation, noting that no evidence has yet emerged of increased radiation levels. Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly denounced the attack, calling it a violation of international norms and legal frameworks.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Iran’s nuclear infrastructure has come under attack. In June 2025, the US targeted three major Iranian nuclear sites—Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan—an escalation that significantly heightened military tensions across the region.
