Middle East tensions: UAE cuts diplomatic ties with Iran, shuts embassy in Tehran

Dubai/Tehran: Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply, taking a serious turn as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) officially announced the severance of all diplomatic relations with Iran and the immediate closure of its embassy in Tehran.

According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision follows recent attacks and Iran’s escalating aggression in the region. The UAE has recalled its ambassador from Tehran without delay.

All operations of the UAE embassy in Iran have been suspended, a move that analysts describe as the largest rift in decades between the two nations.

Following the UAE’s decisive action, Saudi Arabia also sent a stern message to Tehran. The Saudi Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian ambassador to lodge a formal protest against the recent attacks.

Saudi officials emphasized that any attempts to destabilize peace and security in the region will not be tolerated and urged Iran to reconsider its policies.

Political analysts suggest that these measures by Gulf nations could further isolate Iran diplomatically on the global stage. The firm stance by both the UAE and Saudi Arabia signals that Arab states will no longer remain silent in the face of Iranian military or cyber provocations.
