Kasur (Web Desk): At least eight people died and two others injured after a van plunged into a ravine in Kasur on Friday.
The tragic accident occurred near Khara Morr on Raiwind Road, where the victims were returning from a wedding in Raiwind.
According to authorities, the vehicle lost control and veered off the road before falling into the water, with the driver believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel.
Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene, recovering the bodies and transporting the injured to Bulleh Shah District Hospital.
As per the hospital sources, two of the injured are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, police said have launched an investigation into the incident, with efforts underway to identify the victims and determine the exact cause of the crash.
A statement by Rescue 1122, said that the accident occurred after the driver reportedly became drowsy.
Meanwhile, the police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the driver, citing overspeeding as the cause of accident.
