Dubai (Web Desk): Bangladesh clinched a thrilling victory over Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in the first Super Four match of the Asia Cup T20 tournament.
The match was played in Dubai, where Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted a competitive total of 168 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Captain Dasun Shanaka remained unbeaten with a solid knock of 63 runs, while Kusal Mendis contributed 34, Pathum Nissanka scored 22, and Charith Asalanka added 21 runs.
From the bowling side, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman delivered a standout performance, claiming 3 wickets.
In reply, Bangladesh chased down the target of 169 runs in the final over, finishing at 169 for 6, securing a thrilling win with just a few balls to spare.
It is worth noting that Pakistan and India qualified for the Super Four stage from Group A, while Sri Lanka and Bangladesh progressed from Group B.
