Interior Minister Naqvi lands in Mashhad for meetings on US-Iran negotiations 

Islamabad/Tehran (Web Desk): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in the Iranian city of Mashhad on Saturday for high-level meetings focused on bilateral relations and the broader regional situation.

As part of these engagements, he is expected to convey Pakistan’s congratulations to the Iranian leadership regarding the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Sources said the discussions will also cover the next phase of cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, with both sides set to exchange views on future plans and areas of mutual collaboration.

Matters of shared interest, regional peace and stability, and opportunities to further strengthen bilateral ties are also likely to feature prominently in the talks.

Earlier to Iran's ISNA news agency reported that the visit reflects Pakistan's continued involvement in efforts to facilitate communication between Tehran and Washington as both sides work to build on the progress achieved through the latest understanding.

Speaking to ISNA, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Pakistan has remained actively engaged in helping the two countries overcome outstanding disagreements and sustain the positive atmosphere created by the recent breakthrough.

As part of his visit, Naqvi is scheduled to hold separate talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The meetings are expected to focus on future diplomatic steps and ways to advance the dialogue process.

The nvisit comes at a pivotal moment, with the preliminary Iran-US accord moving into a crucial phase. Technical-level discussions are expected to begin soon, covering key issues such as Iran's nuclear activities, the easing of sanctions, and procedures for ensuring both sides uphold their commitments.
