Lahore (Web Desk): An anti-corruption court in Lahore on Tuesday granted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president and former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi post-arrest bail in a case regarding the illegal recruitments in the Punjab Assembly.
Special Judge Ali Raza Awan granted the bail to the PTI leader against the surety bonds worth Rs1 million.
On Monday, the court reserved the verdict after hearing the arguments on an application filed by the former chief minister.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in Gujranwala had arrested former Punjab CM earlier this month for allegedly taking Rs15 million in bribes as the speaker of the Punjab Assembly for making out-of-merit appointments on grade-17 posts in the provincial assembly.
The PTI president was subsequently sent to jail on judicial remand for 14 days.
