Washington (Web Desk): U.S President Donald Trump has expressed gratitude to Iran after it announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping.
In a statement shared on his Truth Social account, Trump said Iran had decided to fully open the Strait of Hormuz for maritime traffic, calling it a positive step for global trade and stability. He also thanked Iran for the decision, noting its importance for international shipping routes.
The remarks came after Iran announced that, following the ceasefire in Lebanon, the Strait of Hormuz would remain open to commercial vessels during the truce period.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had earlier stated that all merchant ships would be allowed free passage through the strategic waterway, with movement regulated under a coordinated system issued by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.
