Iran announces immediate reopening of Strait of Hormuz

Tehran (Web Desk): Iran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain fully open for commercial shipping following the ceasefire in Lebanon, ensuring uninterrupted maritime trade and regional commercial activity.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a statement shared on social media that all commercial vessels will be allowed free and uninterrupted movement through the Strait of Hormuz during the ceasefire period.

He added that the decision has been taken to maintain the continuity of global trade and shipping routes.

He further clarified that vessel movement will follow a coordinated and regulated route system already outlined by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization, which operates under the Islamic Republic of Iran and is responsible for managing and securing maritime traffic in the strategic waterway.

In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.

The announcement came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed a 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel.

The truce is being seen as an important development aimed at reducing regional tensions and stabilizing trade routes.

Analysts say keeping the Strait of Hormuz open could help ensure smooth energy and goods transportation across global markets while also signaling Iran’s intent to maintain regional stability and uphold international maritime obligations.
