Tehran (Web Desk): Iran has extended its appreciation to Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir for their diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region.
Speaking on the matter, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran had agreed to reopen the crucial Strait of Hormuz for a period of two weeks, following a request put forward by Pakistan’s civil and military leadership.
He noted that Iran had formally conveyed its gratitude to both the prime minister and the army chief, acknowledging their positive and constructive role in promoting de-escalation.
He remarked that their efforts to help bring the conflict to a halt were praiseworthy and demonstrated a clear commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Araghchi further highlighted that both leaders remained consistently engaged during a sensitive period, working tirelessly to encourage a ceasefire through active diplomacy.
The decision to temporarily reopen this vital shipping route is being regarded as a meaningful step toward calming the situation and supporting the uninterrupted movement of global trade through the key corridor.
At the same time, Donald Trump delayed taking a decision on launching a strike against Iran on Tuesday evening, choosing instead to allow room for a possible ceasefire agreement after facing repeated calls from allies to reconsider.
On that same day, Pakistan’s prime minister urged both the United States and Iran to agree to a two-week ceasefire, suggesting a temporary halt in hostilities to give diplomatic efforts an opportunity to progress.
