Asia Cup 2025: Bangladesh set 155-run target for Afghanistan 

Abu Dhabi (Web Desk): Bangladesh put 155 runs on the board for Afghanistan to chase in the ninth match of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Litton Das opted to bat first, and his call worked out as his side compiled 154 for five from their allotted 20 overs

The innings began on a lively note as openers Tanzid and Saif Hassan pieced together a rapid 63-run stand. However, Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan drew first blood, removing Saif on the third ball of the seventh over. Saif’s knock of 30 off 28 deliveries included two boundaries and a six.

Tanzid carried the momentum forward and turned out to be the mainstay of Bangladesh’s innings.

He produced a brisk 52 from 31 balls, peppered with four fours and three sixes. Along the way, he shared short but important partnerships of 24 runs with Litton Das, who managed nine, and 17 with Towhid Hridoy before Noor Ahmad ended his stay in the 13th over.

Hridoy then shouldered responsibility in the middle, making 26 from 20 deliveries before falling to Azmatullah Omarzai in the penultimate over. In the final stretch, Jaker Ali and Nurul Hasan added useful contributions, both remaining unbeaten on 12 runs to lift the total.

On the bowling front, Afghanistan’s attack was led by Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad, who bagged two wickets each, while Omarzai chipped in with one.

For Bangladesh, the contest carries extra weight as a must-win encounter to stay alive in the hunt for the Super Four. 
They currently occupy third place in Group B with two points from two matches.
