Abu Dhabi (Web Desk): In the third clash of the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 at Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong could only set Bangladesh a moderate chase of 144 after concluding their innings at 143 for seven on Thursday.
Bangladesh skipper Litton Das’s choice to put the opposition in to bat brought early dividends as his bowlers applied constant pressure. Taskin Ahmed drew first blood in the second over, dismissing opener Anshy Rath for four with the scoreboard reading just seven.
The batting side slipped further when Babar Hayat, after making 14, was bowled by Tanzim Hasan Sakib, reducing Hong Kong to 30 for two inside 5 overs.
Nizakat Khan, along with opener Zeeshan Ali, attempted to stabilise the innings with a 41-run partnership. However, their resistance ended when Tanzim struck again to send Zeeshan back for a 34-ball 30, which included three boundaries and a six. Nizakat then paired up with captain Yasim Murtaza for another useful stand, this time worth 46 runs.
Murtaza’s fluent knock of 28 from 19 balls, decorated with two sixes and two fours, came to a frustrating close when he was run out. Nizakat remained the backbone of the innings, compiling 42 from 40 deliveries with two fours and a six before Taskin removed him in the 19th over.
Following his exit, Hong Kong collapsed further, managing only nine additional runs while losing two more wickets. For Bangladesh, the bowling honors were shared, with Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain claiming two scalps apiece to keep Hong Kong within reach.
