Germany rejects Trump's call for military cooperation against Iran

Berlin (Web Desk): Berlin: Germany has firmly rejected a request from US President Donald Trump for military cooperation against Iran.

The German Defence Minister emphasized that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East are not related to NATO, and Germany will not involve itself in the conflict.

Responding strongly to the American request, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius questioned the expectation behind it, stating, “What the world’s most powerful navy could not achieve, how could one or two European warships manage in the Strait of Hormuz?”

He further clarified, “This is a war we did not start, and therefore, we will not be part of it. The situation arising from US and Israeli attacks on Iran is entirely their own affair.”

A spokesperson for the German Chancellor, Steffen Konelius, explained that NATO is a regional defense alliance and lacks any legal mandate to act against Iran.

Meanwhile, Germany expressed concern over Israeli ground operations in Lebanon, describing the situation as a humanitarian catastrophe, and urged immediate negotiations between Israel and Lebanon.
