Beta version introduces group audio, video calls feature on WhatsApp Web

California (Web Desk): WhatsApp is reportedly working on a significant update for its web version, aiming to enhance user communication with the introduction of group calling features.

According to reports, while WhatsApp Web already supports several features available on the mobile app, it has so far lacked group voice and video calling functionality.

As per Wabetainfo, voice and video calling is currently available on WhatsApp Web only for one-on-one chats. However, the company has now introduced group audio and video calling in the beta version for group chats.

The new feature will allow users to include up to 32 participants in a single group call, with end-to-end encryption ensuring secure communication.

In addition, screen sharing will also be available during group calls, enabling users to share their screens with other participants in real time.

Once fully rolled out, a dedicated call button will appear inside group chat windows, allowing users to start voice or video calls directly.

Reports also suggest that call links will be introduced for group calls, allowing users to invite others easily. Each call link will be unique and secure, making duplication impossible.

If a call link is not used, it will automatically expire after 30 days.

The feature is currently available to a limited number of beta users, but is expected to be rolled out to all users in the near future.
