WhatsApp introduces audio, video calling on web version

California (Web Desk): WhatsApp has officially introduced audio and video calling support on its web version, marking a significant upgrade for users. The new feature is being rolled out gradually.

Previously, calling was limited to the mobile app and desktop application. With this update, users can now make calls directly through their web browser without installing the desktop software.

At the initial stage, the feature is available only for one-on-one chats. To place a call, users need to open a conversation and click the call button displayed next to the contact’s name at the top. Both audio and video call options will then appear.

According to reports, calls made through the web platform will be protected with end-to-end encryption using the Signal protocol, ensuring privacy and security. The web version will also support screen sharing, enhancing the overall communication experience.
