DPM Dar in Shanghai for two-day official visit to China

Shanghai (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has arrived in Shanghai for a two-day official visit to China, leading a high-level delegation to participate in key events related to artificial intelligence cooperation and bilateral engagement.

During his visit, Ishaq Dar will attend the signing ceremony of the Agreement on the Establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO).

Pakistan will become one of the founding members of the organization, and the deputy prime minister will sign the agreement on behalf of the country.

The visit comes as part of Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen international cooperation in emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, and enhance collaboration with global partners in the field of innovation and digital development.

Ishaq Dar is also scheduled to participate in the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, which is being held in Shanghai.

The conference brings together government representatives, technology experts, researchers, and industry leaders from around the world to discuss advancements, opportunities, and challenges linked to artificial intelligence.

During his stay in China, the deputy prime minister will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts and discuss matters of mutual interest, including ways to further strengthen Pakistan-China relations and expand cooperation in technology and other sectors.

Upon his arrival at the airport, Ishaq Dar and his delegation were warmly received by Wu Wei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor of Shanghai.

Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires to China Aizaz Khan and Consul General of Pakistan in Shanghai Shahzad Ahmad Khan were also present to welcome the delegation.

The visit highlights the growing partnership between Pakistan and China, with both countries focusing on new areas of cooperation, including artificial intelligence, technological innovation, and digital transformation.
