DPM Dar reaffirms Pakistan's commitment to "Shanghai Spirit"

Cholpon-Ata (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday reiterated Pakistan’s firm dedication to the "Shanghai Spirit", underscoring the country’s resolve to deepen collaboration, improve regional connectivity and promote collective development among the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

He made these remarks while speaking at the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

At the outset of his address, Dar expressed appreciation to the Kyrgyz government and Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev for their gracious hospitality and the efficient arrangements made for the ministerial meeting.

Marking the SCO’s 25th anniversary, he congratulated the organisation on reaching the milestone and praised its continued contribution towards advancing regional peace, strengthening security, enhancing prosperity and supporting sustainable development across member states.

The deputy prime minister also drew attention to Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives aimed at encouraging regional peace.

He referred to the Islamabad Talks and the subsequent Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as evidence of Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy.

Dar also thanked his fellow foreign ministers for acknowledging and appreciating Pakistan’s genuine efforts to foster peace and stability within the region as well as beyond.

DPM Dar further conveyed Pakistan's readiness to assume the Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) in September this year and to welcome all SCO Member States to Pakistan for the CHS Summit next year.
